Mount Taiwu is located in the center of Kinmen Island and is an important commemorative site for the August 23rd Artillery Battle (823 Artillery Battle). The Kinmen National Park Visitor Center is situated within the Zhongshan Memorial Forest Recreation Area in this region. Mount Taiwu is rich in historical battle sites and offers panoramic views of Kinmen's rural landscape. Although Mount Taiwu is only 253 meters above sea level, it is Kinmen's highest peak. The 'Don't Forget Jù' (毋忘在莒) inscription carved into a rock at the summit, standing dozens of feet tall, was created in 1952 (the 41st year of the Republic) based on the calligraphy of the late President Chiang Kai-shek, and has become Kinmen's most famous landmark.
