Jibei Island

Jibei Island is a popular summer vacation destination in Penghu. Its sand spit and bay are especially renowned. The Jibei sand spit extends southeast from Xikan Mountain, forming a golden beach several thousand meters long, inspiring a desire to get close to its beauty. Jibei Island is located approximately 5.5 kilometers north of Baisha Island, making it the largest island in Penghu's northern seas. It is surrounded by fish weirs and coral reef formations, and the island boasts rich cultural landscapes and heritage sites. The rock formations along the southeastern coast have been eroded into a wave-cut platform. The eastern and northeastern shores of the island feature darker basalt rocks. Xikan Mountain was originally an isolated hill, but later became a tombolo due to the extensive accumulation of coral debris. To the southeast of Xikan Mountain, there is an uplifted beach rock formation, which, along with the accumulated layers north of Xikan Mountain, accounts for roughly half of the island's total area, making it another unique geological feature of the island. Due to its special geographical location, the island is rich in birdlife and plant species, with over a hundred bird species discovered so far. On the wave-cut platform outside the accumulated layers, numerous fish weirs are densely arranged, visible after the tide recedes, making it the most concentrated area for Penghu fish weirs. Accommodation is available in resort cabins on the island, and its gentle sandy shores are ideal for swimming and diving, making it a perfect coastal holiday destination. The island currently offers a variety of recreational facilities and activities, allowing visitors to relax and have fun all afternoon, making it an excellent place to beat the summer heat.
