Tongpan Islet

Tongpan Islet is a typical basaltic mesa landform, surrounded by highly developed and neatly arranged columnar basalt. Due to its stunning rock formations, it has long been known as the "Yellowstone of Penghu." Visitors can fully appreciate the scenery by following the circular island concrete walkway. On the wave-cut platform along Tongpan Islet's southwest coast, concentric circular depressions formed by emerging basaltic magma, known as the "Lotus Pedestal," are remnants of an ancient volcanic crater. Additionally, the honeycomb-shaped basalt, commonly known as "Maogong Stone," also adds considerable charm to the coastal scenery. Fuhai Temple, located near the pier, primarily enshrines Lord Wen (Wenfu Wangye) and boasts a magnificent appearance, making it one of the most popular and thriving temples among Penghu's outlying islands. Furthermore, the nearby seabed features vast and magnificent sheet coral reefs, making it a diver's paradise.
