Penghu Trans-Oceanic Bridge

A trans-oceanic bridge connecting Baisha and Xiyu islands, spanning the turbulent Houmen Channel. It is 2,494 meters long, with semicircular arches at both ends. When it was completed, it was the longest trans-oceanic bridge in the Far East. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic in 1970 (ROC year 59). Initially, it was a single lane, making it difficult for vehicles to pass each other. After reconstruction and widening into a dual-lane bridge, it was completed in March 1996 (ROC year 85), making inter-island transportation more convenient. Strolling on the bridge, one can admire the magnificent sea views, listen to the majestic ocean waves, and feel the gentle sea breeze, making it a great pleasure for relaxation and rejuvenation.
