The East Coast National Scenic Area is located in the coastal parts of Hualien and Taitung Counties, stretching between the east side of the Coastal Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean. It extends north from the Hualien River estuary and south to the Xiaoyeliu Scenic Area, boasting an east coast that spans over 170 kilometers. Its geological features are most distinctive at Shitiiping, Sanxiantai, and Xiaoyeliu. Rafting on the Xiuguluan River is famous throughout Taiwan and is a popular summer travel destination. Within the area, one can engage in activities such as rafting, whale watching, and diving. The unique coastal topography, ecology, and rich indigenous culture intertwine to create the enchanting charm of the East Coast.
