Baiyang Trail

The Baiyang Trail is 2 kilometers long, and a one-way walk takes about one hour. The Baiyang Trail was developed from a construction road built by Taiwan Power Company, with the beautiful river valley scenery as its main feature. The entrance is at the 168.8-kilometer mark of the Central Cross-Island Highway, about 500 meters west of Tianxiang. From the tunnel entrance below the Hueranting Trail's ridge, you pass through a 380-meter-long tunnel, which takes you from the Taosai River basin into the Waheier River basin. Then, you proceed along a flat construction road beside the river. After about 1 kilometer, near the third tunnel, you enter the Taci Jili River basin, which is also the most spectacular section for its canyon views. After passing through four tunnels of varying lengths, you reach Baiyang Bridge, a concrete bridge spanning the Taci Jili River. The rapids and deep pools beneath the bridge are quite thrilling, and the canyon scenery is magnificent. Another tunnel across Baiyang Bridge leads to Shuiliandong (Water Curtain Cave), but due to multiple earthquakes and typhoons, it has become a dangerous area prone to landslides and is currently closed. Visitors can only view Baiyang Waterfall from a distance near Baiyang Bridge, or cross the suspension bridge over the tributary stream to a viewing platform to look back at the scenery around Baiyang Bridge and the Taci Jili River canyon.
