Carp Mountain Park

Located behind Taitung Old Train Station, it's easily accessible by walking a short distance down Bo'ai Road past the railway crossing. It is a low hill, named for its resemblance to a reclining carp. From the summit, visitors can overlook Taitung City, making it Taitung's most expansive recreational green space. At the foot of the mountain are Longfeng Temple, the Martyrs' Shrine, and Carp Mountain Park, which together form a picturesque Carp Mountain scenic area. Carp Mountain's geological structure consists of Beinan breccia. Standing approximately 75 meters tall, it is an important landmark in Taitung City. On clear days, one can see as far as Orchid Island (Lanyu) and Green Island. Although not high, the mountain is quite beautiful, with the sea in front, offering visitors a refreshing and inspiring view. It is commonly known as Beinan Mountain, a name derived from Beinan Street, while the Amis people of the Malan community refer to it as Liyu Mountain (Carp Mountain).
