Huadong Valley National Scenic Area - Luye Visitor Center

Hualien and Taitung counties, located in eastern Taiwan, boast a beautiful natural environment, pristine local customs, an unpolluted setting, unique natural and cultural landscapes, and rich tourism and recreational resources. To preserve these invaluable tourism resources and natural ecosystems, while simultaneously expanding domestic tourism opportunities and accelerating the development of the tourism industry in the eastern region, on May 30, 1996, the Executive Yuan approved the designation of the Huadong Valley area as a national scenic area. Furthermore, on September 13, 1996, approval was granted for the establishment of the Huadong Valley National Scenic Area Administration, responsible for the planning, construction, and management of this specific area. On May 1, 1997, the Huadong Valley National Scenic Area Administration officially commenced operations at the Ruisui Rafting Service Center. The main characteristic of tourism activities along the Huadong Valley is to experience the industries of eastern Taiwan and the charm of its plains and secluded valleys. Due to the resources inherent to the valley line, including its industries, landscapes, pastoral scenery, culture, and settlements, travelers can not only enjoy the comfort of a countryside retreat but also delve into intellectually stimulating and educational pleasures. Attractions along the entire Huadong Valley include the Beinan-Liji area, Chulu area, Luye-Yanping area, Guanshan-Haiduan area, Chishang-Fuli area, Yuli-Zhuoxi area, Ruisui-Wanrong area, Guangfu-Fenglin area, Shoufeng area, and more.
