Zhiben Hot Spring

Zhiben Hot Spring is renowned as the "Number One Scenic Spot in Eastern Taiwan." In earlier times, hot springs would bubble up directly from the riverbed. It is an alkaline carbonic acid spring, colorless, odorless, and tasteless, with water temperatures often exceeding 100 degrees Celsius, making its water quality exceptionally good. Zhiben Creek divides Zhiben into inner and outer hot spring areas. Although the inner hot spring area was developed later, the presence of five-star hot spring resorts has transformed it into a large-scale commercial district, attracting more foreign tourists seeking high-quality services. What most people commonly refer to as "Zhiben Hot Spring" is the outer hot spring area, where numerous small and medium-sized hot spring inns abound, making it very convenient for accommodation or enjoying hot spring pools and baths. Nowadays, the inner and outer hot spring areas have expanded and merged into one continuous region. However, due to its proximity to Zhiben Forest Recreation Area, the inner hot spring area seems to have a geographical advantage, particularly surpassing the outer hot spring area in terms of scenery. The Zhiben Hot Spring area is an indigenous gathering place, thus offering indigenous cuisine and various mountain vegetables and wild game. In addition to numerous wild produce shops, vendors selling local specialties like custard apples, pineapples, and roselle can be found everywhere, adding to the unique charm of Eastern Taiwan.
