Shimen Ancient Battlefield

Its strategically important and perilous terrain is sandwiched between cliffs and mountain walls. This famous ancient battlefield is the site of the Mudan Incident during the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty. Here, indigenous people bravely fought against the invading Japanese forces, yet the Qing court resolved the conflict with indemnities and trade agreements, leaving behind a historical legacy that evokes deep regret. On the summit of Simu Mountain, a stele inscribed with 'Clarify the Seas and Reclaim Our Land' stands as a memorial.
