Sisal thrives in the scorching sun of the Hengchun Peninsula and the strong winter 'Luoshan wind.' Originally from Central America, sisal was introduced by American consul Davidson in 1901. For the next 50 years, the Hengchun Peninsula became a major hub for the sisal industry. However, with technological advancements, nylon ropes replaced sisal ropes, and the sisal industry, like the setting sun, became a mere memory. The Historical Exhibition Hall is located south of Longluan Lake, on the road to Maobitou, with a sisal sculpture at its entrance. The exhibition hall is a Southern Min-style building, divided into three halls, each displaying different themes. The first is the Butterfly Hall, the second is the Seashell Hall, and the third, the main attraction here, is the Sisal Hall. There is also an audio-visual interpretation center where visitors can watch presentations and catch a glimpse of the sisal industry's past prosperity.
