Maolin National Scenic Area - Rinari Visitor Center

The Maolin National Scenic Area currently encompasses six townships/districts: Taoyuan, Liugui, and Maolin Districts in Kaohsiung City, and Sandimen, Wutai, and Majia Townships in Pingtung County. Each township/district boasts distinct characteristics, ranging from unique geological formations and hot spring landscapes to indigenous cultural charm and a variety of dynamic and static activities. The upper reaches of the Gaoping River, including the Laonong River and Zhuokou River basins, span Liugui District and Maolin District in Kaohsiung City, and Sandimen Township in Pingtung County. This area features Baolai and Bulao Hot Springs, the Longtoushan and Shetoushan meander landforms, and the Shibaluohanshan Geopark. Additionally, cultural landscapes like indigenous Rukai slate houses and specialty agricultural products from Liugui District, such as "Black Diamond Wax Apples" and "Jin Huang Mangoes," contribute to the region's highly diverse tourism and recreational resources. Inside the Rinari Visitor Center, visitors can find accessible travel information counters, multimedia rooms, nursing rooms, bookcrossing stations, and smart device charging facilities. There are also Paiwan indigenous attire experience activities where visitors are encouraged to try on traditional clothing for photos. Located at a spot with an excellent view of the Pingtung Plain, visitors can ascend to the second floor to take in the surrounding mountain scenery, watch the sunset's afterglow, and gaze at the cable-stayed bridge and Kaohsiung 85 Building in the distance. Furthermore, the plaza in front of the center irregularly hosts holiday art markets, combining with the trend of creative markets to showcase creative markets featuring indigenous cultural characteristics.
