Kaohsiung City Astronomical Education Center

The establishment of an observatory was a shared aspiration of Kaohsiung City's residents and a goal that the Kaohsiung Astronomical Society has continuously worked to promote since its inception. Following multiple evaluations and strong advocacy from former Director Luo Wen-ji, the city government approved in 1998 (Minguo 87) the integration of planning and design for an astronomical education center into the construction project of Ganghe Elementary School. This led to its current small yet exquisite scale. Its purpose is simple and clear: Therefore, this center is primarily dedicated to astronomical instruction, with promotion as a supplementary function, and is named the "Astronomical Education Center." We hope that the facilities and services provided by this center, despite limited resources, can guide you into the realm of astronomical science and allow you to explore the mysteries of the vast universe! We also anticipate that the operational model and achievements of this center will serve as a valuable reference for the future establishment of larger observatories (or centers/museums). In the past, we had little; in the future, we might have even less. But now, at the outset of the new century, we have taken a significant step forward and made a promising start.
