Visitor Essentials

The Kaohsiung Film Archive offers visitors a diverse and comprehensive experience of films, history, and memorable events. It also serves as a cultural hub, expanding its influence outwards from its central location in the district. The first floor exhibits film-related artifacts. The second floor features an audio-visual classroom and a film archive available for in-house borrowing. The third floor houses the main Cinematheque with its large screening room. Although renovated from an old building, its exterior showcases a modern design incorporating digital and technological elements, successfully blending sophistication with warmth. The interior exhibitions are thoughtfully curated to reflect the city's cinematic self-identity, encompassing the self-identity and self-discovery within film history, alongside themes like Taiwanese film history. Exhibitions include 'Old Cinemas of Kaohsiung,' 'Kaohsiung in Film,' and 'Southern Filmmakers' – a series dedicated to directors and actors originating from Kaohsiung – serving as the core themes for the first phase of regular exhibitions. Regarding facilities, there is a large screening hall with a capacity for 150 people, and a smaller 15-person screening room suitable for workshops, seminars, test screenings, and other small discussions or viewing activities. Additionally, individual audio-visual booths are available, allowing everyone to watch their preferred films.
