Did you know that in a corner of Kaohsiung, there's a miniature ecosystem where you can appreciate natural native plants right in the midst of a bustling city? Combining both educational and recreational functions, the Kaohsiung Native Plant Garden has become both a local and metropolitan botanical garden. The most prominent feature of this garden is that almost the entire park was constructed using ecological engineering methods. Soft pavements, stacked stones, and a water circulation system were all employed to create a park that closely mimics nature. It seamlessly integrates ecological and recreational functions, and with its undulating streams, decorative fountains, curved bridges, and sandy areas, the park's landscape is further enriched with unique charms. Located next to the Longitudinal Railway in Kaohsiung City's Zuoying District, the park spans approximately 4.66 hectares. It is broadly divided into zones such as the Mangrove Area, Aquatic Plant Area, Southern Low-Altitude Plant Area, Coral Reef Area, and Coastal Forest Area. Furthermore, it boasts an educational interpretive center and a Plant Evolution Interpretive Plaza, enabling visitors to connect more intimately with nature and understand its ecosystems.
