Nanhua Reservoir is located east of Yushan Village in Nanhua District. To reach it, travel along Provincial Highway 20 (Southern Cross-Island Highway) from Beiliao in Nanhua District towards Jiasian. Construction began in 1988 (Republic Era 77) and was completed in 1994 (Republic Era 83). The reservoir's catchment area spans 104 square kilometers, and its capacity is 158.05 million cubic meters. The reservoir primarily supplies public water to the Greater Tainan and Greater Kaohsiung areas, while also serving as a tourist attraction. Upstream from Nanhua Reservoir, Guanshan Village boasts numerous waterfalls, valleys, and other scenic spots, including the 'Youqing Waterfall' (Secluded Affection Waterfall). Next to its pool, a large rock contains a cave resembling the Water Curtain Cave. Along County Road 175 towards Guanshan Village (Ruifeng Elementary School), a roughly 12-kilometer lakeside road offers alternative views of Nanhua Reservoir. Below the Nanhua Reservoir dam lies the Jiaobanian Ancient Battlefield. The Nanhua District Office has established a Military History Park, an Environmental Park, and a Waterfront Park here, collectively known as the 'Source Travel Leisure Park'. Mangoes and longans are the major local agricultural products, enjoying a good reputation in the market for their quality. Every spring and summer, Nanhua Reservoir in Tainan City is adorned with abundant, beautiful flowers.
