Zengwen Reservoir

The entire catchment area of Zengwen Reservoir is located within Chiayi County. It was built to regulate and fully utilize the water resources of the Zengwen River, with the purpose of improving and expanding irrigation for farmland in the Jianan area. It also serves functions such as power generation, flood control, and tourism, making it a multi-functional reservoir. The environment here is beautiful, with picturesque lake and mountain scenery. It is Taiwan's largest reservoir. Within the publicly accessible park area, there are activity zones for wild camping, forest cabins, outdoor fitness, and stream play. The charming scenery all around often makes people linger and forget to return. The Zengwen Reservoir Observation Deck is situated at a high vantage point. Ascending the Zhongzheng Building, the lake scenery unfolds completely before your eyes, attracting many visitors to stop here. Adjacent to it is an information center, equipped with multimedia videos and photo explanations, introducing the various facilities of Zengwen Reservoir and providing tourist information and explanations of the scenic area's ecological environment, making a trip to Zengwen more educational and enjoyable. Located at the other end of the reservoir, within Tainan City, the Zengwen Youth Activity Center is a pure white European-style building with complete and comfortable interior furnishings. The Visitor Service Center is very uniquely designed, utilizing the site's narrow and elongated characteristics to create a distinctive "Eye of Zengwen" shaped building, which has become the recognized new landmark of Zengwen Reservoir. The Bird Palace Garden, as its name suggests, is a beautiful aviary, colorful and very pleasing to the eye. The reservoir's main dam is 133 meters high and about 400 meters long. From the top of the dam, looking down at the lake and mountain scenery, one sees only an expanse of green mountains and clear waters, which is refreshing and uplifting.
