Chimei Museum

The Chimei Museum was established by Mr. Wen-Long Shi, the founder of the Chimei Group and a Taiwanese entrepreneur. It is the largest private museum in Taiwan, primarily collecting Western art, musical instruments, weaponry, and natural history. The museum aims to provide a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can find resonance, serving as a haven for aesthetic enrichment and a spiritual sanctuary for the public. Western art is a major highlight, divided into three main exhibition themes: the 'Art Hall,' 'Sculpture Avenue,' and 'Rodin Hall,' which collectively present a historical understanding of Western art development to visitors. The 'Musical Instrument Hall' boasts an exquisite and extensive collection of violins, ranking as the world's finest. The 'Weaponry Hall' displays ancient weapons from around the globe. The 'Animal Hall' brings together animal specimens and fossils from all five continents. In total, over 4,000 works are exhibited, representing approximately one-third of the entire collection. Outdoors, the Chimei Museum is situated within Tainan Metropolitan Park. Echoing its Western art collection, the entire architectural complex adopts a classical Western aesthetic, creating a versatile space that combines scenic beauty, leisure, and accessibility, making it one of Taiwan's most beautiful landmarks.
