Haomeiliao Nature Reserve

Haomeiliao Nature Reserve is situated within Haomei Village, Budai Township. The confluence and sedimentation of the Bazhang and Longgong rivers have transformed this area into a rich nursery of natural resources, attracting countless plants and animals to settle and flourish. To protect the diverse natural inhabitants within the reserve, relevant authorities have designated it as a nature reserve, offering space and opportunities for recreation and research to the public. The reserve is extensive; even from the West Coast Expressway, heading towards the sea, it takes approximately 10 minutes by car to arrive. The primary activities here include appreciating waterfowl and observing wetland flora and fauna. As the signposts are not very conspicuous, visitors must follow the sloped path along the levee to ascend, only then can they admire landscapes such as mangrove forests and lagoons. Following the road alongside the levee, the first stop is a wetland area primarily featuring Grey Mangroves. From atop the levee, looking out, you can clearly see not only the mangrove forests but also abundant waterfowl. Whether it's egrets foraging in the wetlands or grey herons and black drongos soaring in the sky, these are beautiful sights that birdwatchers should not miss. After passing this mangrove area, continue driving along the levee road for about 1 kilometer, then turn up the levee slope to reach a beach area dominated by lagoon scenery. Relevant authorities have installed interpretive signs here, detailing the local plant ecology, and combined with the stunning lake and water scenery, it truly feels like a paradise on earth.
