Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area - Songboling Visitor Center

Central Taiwan boasts pleasant weather, beautiful scenery, and abundant natural, cultural, and industrial resources, holding immense potential for tourism development. For this reason, the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications merged the three scenic areas of Lion's Head Mountain, Lishan, and Baguashan into the "Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area." Its administrative area covers 18 townships/districts across five counties and cities: Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou, totaling an area of approximately 77,521 hectares. The Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration was established in March 2001 (Republic of China year 90) to specifically manage tourism-related affairs within its jurisdiction. This area is rich in diverse terrain and landforms, including high mountains, lakes, canyons, hills, and waterfalls, creating astonishing and unique landscapes. Coupled with abundant flora and fauna, such as birds, fish, and insects, as well as seasonal flowers and forest scenery, the area thrives with life. Culturally, the area showcases a diverse and inclusive cultural landscape, blending different ethnic groups such as Hakka, Minnan, Saisiyat, and Atayal. The living artifacts and traditional customs left behind by these groups are precious assets that are in urgent need of preservation. Furthermore, historic temples, ancient monasteries, and distinctive old houses, forming clusters of historic buildings, are also important tourist attractions in this area, well worth a detailed visit and in-depth understanding. In addition to static scenic and cultural tours, the area also offers dynamic healthy living (LOHAS) experiences. Multiple interconnected hiking trails and cycling paths within the area are not only ideal for leisurely strolls and enjoying the scenery but also popular choices for hikers and cyclists. Especially during the hot summer, walking along the shaded trails offers a complete relief from the heat. In winter, it's a great time for hot springs; high-quality hot springs and well-equipped hot spring resorts provide a warm indulgence during the cold season. Due to its favorable geographical location, suitable climate conditions, and excellent soil and water quality, this scenic area produces agricultural specialties such as temperate fruits, high-mountain vegetables, tea leaves, and trout, all renowned for their freshness and delicious taste. The tea produced here is particularly famous far and wide, with the fragrant aroma of tea wafting from north to south, encompassing Oriental Beauty Tea from Lion's Head Mountain, high-mountain tea from Lishan, and Songboling Everlasting Green Tea from Baguashan. Additionally, Aboriginal specialty dishes and Hakka cuisine are local delicacies that must be savored when visiting.
