Taiwan Geographical Center Monument

Located at the foot of Hutou Mountain in Puli Township, it is adjacent to the Puli-Wushe Highway and Puli Industrial High School. The late President Chiang Ching-kuo once inscribed the four characters '山清水秀' (picturesque mountains and clear waters) upon it. The monument's structure is both beautiful and majestic, embraced by two white curved walls. The central base is a three-meter-high ochre plaque, topped with a stainless steel pole, which in turn supports two intersecting rings at its uppermost point. The entire design resembles a half-opened lily, making it a tourist destination of significant geographical importance. Looking down from the steps of the entire central monument, the emerald green mountain silhouette highlights its unique design lines, creating a truly magnificent sight. Following the stone steps behind the monument, which number over 400, one can ascend to Huzi Mountain Peak. This peak serves as the astronomical origin point for Taiwan's geographical center, Taiwan's geometric center, and also the largest triangulation station in Taiwan. Huzi Mountain Peak is adorned with ancient pine trees that have thrived for years, lush and verdant, presenting a strikingly beautiful and grand spectacle. From its summit, visitors can admire the wondrous sights of sunrise and sunset, and also enjoy a panoramic view of the Puli Basin.
