Yushan National Park - Shuili Visitor Center

Yushan National Park is located in the central part of Taiwan, established on April 10, 1985 (Republic of China Year 74), making it the second national park in our country. Within its borders are majestic mountains and towering peaks. Thirty of Taiwan's famed 'Hundred Peaks' over 3,000 meters are located here, some displaying magnificent grandeur, others unique and picturesque beauty, making it an endlessly beautiful and typical mountainous national park. The entire park centers around Yushan Main Peak, extending to parts of the southern Central Mountain Range. Its vast area encompasses four counties and cities: Nantou, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, and Hualien. It stretches from Malijianan Mountain in the east, south to Guanshan, west to Nanxi Forest Road, and north to Jundashan, covering an area of 105,490 hectares, making it Taiwan's largest national park. It also covers the headwaters of major river systems in Taiwan's central, southern, and eastern regions, which are closely related to downstream livelihoods. Due to the park's elevation ranging from Yushan Main Peak at 3,952 meters down to the Lakulaku Riverbed at 300 meters, temperatures decrease with increasing altitude, resulting in two climate types: temperate and frigid. In addition to its rich flora, it also harbors abundant natural resources, including diverse fauna and scenic landscapes. The rich and precious natural and cultural resources within the park are for everyone to share. This environment's most important purpose is to provide people with a place to connect with nature, serving as a sanctuary for spiritual rest and rejuvenation, and a beautiful, pure paradise to leave for future generations. Due to its vast area, it is divided into four major zones: The Northwest Zone is located on the northwest side of Yushan National Park and includes areas such as the New Central Cross-Island Highway, Tataka, Dongpu, Guankao, Batongguan, Yushan Main Peak, and Nanxi Forest Road. The Southern Zone is located in the southwest of Yushan National Park and includes areas along the Southern Cross-Island Highway, Meishan-Tianchi-Zhongzhiguan-Yakou, the Southern Cross-Island Three Mountains, and Guanshan. The Eastern Zone is located on the southeast side of Yushan National Park and includes areas such as Nanan, Shanfeng, Walami, Dafen, and Xinkangshan. The High Mountain Core Zone is located in the northeast and central areas of Yushan National Park, including areas such as Dashuiku, Xiuguluan Mountain, Mabolas Mountain, Tafun Mountain, and Maxi Mountain. Additionally, four visitor centers are separately established at the Yushan National Park Headquarters, the New Central Cross-Island Highway - Tataka Recreation Area, the Southern Cross-Island Highway - Meishan Recreation Area, and the Walami - Nanan Recreation Area, providing services such as media viewing, consultation, and interpretation.
