In the past, during an era when only the wealthy could afford to dig wells, affluent residents of Lukang, out of kindness, specifically built half of their wells outside their walls to allow those who couldn't afford a well to draw water freely. Although it is now disused and abandoned, with only a well opening filled with soil remaining, it still fully embodies the Lukang people's spirit of 'sharing the sweet rain' (i.e., generosity and compassion).
