Taichung City Port Art Center

Construction of the Taichung City Port Art Center began in 1993 (Republic of China Year 82). It boasts local characteristics, with its most prominent feature being its open-plan design. The center comprises five main sections: an auditorium, exhibition hall, international conference hall, administrative area, and an elegant reading lounge. Each section hosts various activities periodically, such as classical music nights, bamboo carving and pottery exhibitions, traditional toy weaving workshops, and theatrical performances. On weekends and holidays, elderly people from across the region gather in the center's corridors to spontaneously perform Nanguan music, sing folk songs, and stage Taiwanese opera, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The center is situated in Qingshui District, Taichung City, nestled between mountains and facing the sea, bordered by a river and overlooking a plain. It is built amidst undulating artificial hills and flat terrain. To the northwest of the art center, specifically on the south bank of the Dajia River estuary, lies Qingshui's most vital natural resource. This area is home to the endangered plants 'Yunlin Bolboschoenus' and 'Da'an Water Shield'. Each year, it attracts countless migratory birds that stop to forage, making it a new destination for birdwatchers.
