Visitor Essentials

The Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor was originally the Taiwan Railway Administration's Dongsih Branch Line, a railway branch connecting Fengyuan to Dongshi. Passing through Dongshi District, Shigang District, and Fengyuan District, it was transformed into an exclusive bicycle path through multi-faceted efforts after the railway ceased operations in September 1991 (Republic of China Year 80), and subsequently renamed the 'Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor'. Although the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor is a single-track access corridor, its gentle terrain and evolving human landscape offer diverse natural scenery that not only encompasses rich Hakka ethnic culture and beautiful landscapes but also features endless, interconnected emerald green farmlands. Since its opening, to provide visitors with more comprehensive travel information, a visitor service center was established in the Shigang section of the green corridor, which officially opened in 2003 (Republic of China Year 92). Reflecting the nearby blue Dajia River, it is an excellent place for holiday leisure and recreation. Furthermore, with the addition of night lighting facilities along the entire route, the green corridor can also be enjoyed at night, making it Taiwan's first night-time bikeway.
