Taichung Folk Park

Taichung Folk Park is the first folk park built in recent years by the people of Taiwan, aiming to help future generations remember their roots, understand their ancestors' way of life, and appreciate their origins. The entire area features traditional Southern Min (Min-nan) style architecture, exuding an ancient charm. With pavilions, towers, and beautiful gardens, the scenery is exquisite. Inside, it collects and displays agricultural tools, clothing, household items, and other artifacts from the early Republic of China era. The park's stage, tea houses, town streets, and courtyard squares offer tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle, evoking a sense of nostalgia and deep reflection. The park is comprised of the Folk Museum and the Folk Arts Square. The former is a siheyuan (quadrangle courtyard) building with approximately 16 exhibition rooms displaying folk artifacts, each item and scene backed by historical research. The latter is a venue for performances, where resident artisans demonstrate traditional crafts such as dough sculpting, paper making, and bamboo weaving. During festive events, there are also performances like acrobatics, dragon and lion dances, and top-spinning. In addition to static displays, the park also organizes dynamic folk series activities in conjunction with traditional customs and festivals. This allows gradually declining folk crafts and traditional cultural activities to be presented once again to the public, aiming to rectify social customs, elevate local cultural arts, and simultaneously ensure the preservation and transmission of folk culture.
