Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area - Lishan Visitor Center

Central Taiwan boasts a pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, with abundant natural, cultural, and industrial resources, offering great potential for tourism development. Therefore, the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, merged the Lion's Head Mountain, Lishan, and Baguashan scenic areas into the "Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area." Its administrative scope covers 18 townships, cities, and districts across five counties and cities—Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou—totaling approximately 77,521 hectares. The "Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration" was established in March 2001 (Republic of China year 90) to be responsible for tourism operations within its jurisdiction. This area is rich in diverse terrain and landscapes, including high mountains, lakes, canyons, hills, and waterfalls, creating stunning and unique scenery. Coupled with abundant animal and plant ecology, such as various birds, fish, and insects, as well as seasonal flowers and mountain views, the area thrives with life. Culturally, the area integrates different ethnic groups such as Hakka, Minnan, Saisiyat, and Atayal, showcasing a diverse and inclusive cultural landscape. The living artifacts and traditional customs left behind are valuable assets that need urgent preservation. Additionally, historical temples, ancient monasteries, and distinctive old houses are important cultural heritage sites and key tourist attractions in the area, well worth exploring and understanding in depth. Beyond static scenic and cultural tours, the area also offers dynamic healthy lifestyle experiences. Numerous interconnected hiking and cycling trails not only provide the best options for nature walks and scenic appreciation but are also popular choices for hikers and cyclists. Especially during the hot summer, walking on the shaded trails offers a complete escape from the heat. In winter, it's an excellent time for hot springs; the high-quality hot springs and well-equipped hot spring resorts provide a warm indulgence in the cold season. Due to its advantageous geographical location and suitable climate conditions, this scenic area boasts excellent soil and water quality, fostering the growth of special agricultural products such as temperate fruits, high-mountain vegetables, tea, and trout, all renowned for their freshness and delicious taste. The tea produced in this area is particularly famous, with the aroma of tea drifting from north to south, encompassing Oriental Beauty Tea from Lion's Head Mountain, high-mountain tea from Lishan, and Songbailing Oolong Tea from Baguashan. Additionally, indigenous-flavored meals and Hakka cuisine are local delicacies that must be tasted when visiting.
