Hsinchu City's coastline stretches approximately 17 kilometers, extending from Nanliao Village in the north to Nangang in the south. Recreational attractions include Nanliao Leisure Fishing Harbor, Seaview Park, Horizon Viewpoint, Gangnan Canal, Mangrove Park, Scenic Coast, Haishan Fishing Harbor Seaview Platform, Nangang Bird Watching Area, and a Tourist Service Center. These offer diverse leisure activities such as gourmet food, beautiful scenery, recreation, sports, and cultural tours, making it a well-known tourist and leisure destination throughout Taiwan. The Gangnan Canal flows from north to south through the Gangnan Coastal Scenic Area. Its eastern bank is adjacent to various facilities within the scenic area, while its western bank borders the tourist cycling path. Additionally, four traditional Chinese arched bridges span the canal, adding a touch of elegant charm to its waterscape. The revamped canal night view was also voted as one of Hsinchu City's 'Eight Night Sceneries'. The Gangnan Canal Scenic Area was originally a swimming beach and has now been transformed into a significant coastal scenic area in Hsinchu City. It features viewing areas, recreational zones, and barbecue areas, making it a diverse comprehensive recreational park. Currently, it is not only an important attraction along Hsinchu City's 17-kilometer coastal tourist belt but also a crucial rest stop within the Western Coastal Highway recreational system.
