Visitor Essentials
The Xakaro National Trail is located in Jianshi Township and Wufeng Township within Hsinchu County. It traverses Taiwan's most biodiverse mid-altitude regions. Along the trail, there are abundant planted forests of Japanese cedar, fir, and sweetgum, as well as natural forests rich in Fagaceae (oak family) plants and walnuts. Cherry blossom viewing in spring, bathing in the cedar forests in summer, and admiring autumn leaves in fall and winter are characteristic activities of this trail throughout the four seasons. The historical events of local Atayal tribal migration and cultivation, along with the remains of Japanese colonial period police outposts, hold significant historical value.
