Visitor Essentials

Wufengqi Waterfall is located in Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County. Behind the waterfall are five sharp peaks arranged side by side, resembling the five triangular flags on the back of a martial general in Chinese opera, hence its name 'Wufengqi' (Five Peaks Flag). The mountaintop is shrouded in clouds and mist all year round, and mountain spring water continuously rushes down from the mountain, forming a three-tiered waterfall with a total length of 100 meters from top to bottom. The lowest tier of the waterfall serves as the entrance to the scenic area, where a children's wading pool and a BBQ area are currently planned. At the middle tier of the waterfall, there is a viewing pavilion (觀瀑亭) with an excellent view. From here, one can gaze upon the emerald green mountains and appreciate the waterfall emerging from the rock face. This spot is known as 'Refreshing Air from the West Peak' (西峰爽氣), one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Lanyang. The waterfall is nestled deep within a secluded valley, making the environment exceptionally beautiful with graceful mountains and the charm of a stream and gorge. At dawn, as the sky slowly brightens, melodious birdsong echoes through the valley, creating an elegant and tranquil atmosphere. From the foot of Wufengqi Mountain in Jiaoxi, ascending along the mountainside, there is a very ancient road. Before the opening of the Beiyi Highway, it was the only road connecting Jiaoxi to Taipei, known as the 'Luma Ancient Trail'. Along this ancient trail, fruit trees such as tangerines and kumquats are planted, making the scenery pleasant and allowing visitors to experience a taste of the past. Wufeng Yougu (Five Peaks Secluded Valley) is located next to the Wufengqi Scenic Area. This is a secluded and tranquil sanctuary where the water quality is exceptionally sweet. Many hiking enthusiasts often collect water from here to bring down the mountain for brewing tea.
