The Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area, located in Datong Township, covers an area of over 12,000 hectares. The entire area encompasses the Nanhu Mountain Range, Sanxing Mountain Range, and a branch of Dabajian Mountain. It is famous for its abundant production of Taiwan cypress (red cypress) and Taiwan incense cedar (yellow cypress), and was once listed as one of Taiwan's three major forest areas, along with Alishan and Baxianshan. Its scenery changes with the four seasons: vibrant and colorful when flowers bloom in spring; unforgettable sunrises and seas of clouds in the crisp autumn air. The area has a significant elevation difference, encompassing subtropical to frigid climates, resulting in a complex variety of tree species in each forest zone, renowned for their beautiful timber. Attractions within the area include Jiuzize Hot Spring (formerly Renze Hot Spring), Forest Park, Forest Bathing Trails, Wildlife Sanctuary, and Cuifeng Lake. Additionally, due to the varying elevations, the landscape features seasonal changes in autumn foliage. Every autumn, the fiery red maple trees bring vibrant colors to Taipingshan. Furthermore, mountain cherry blossoms, plums, apricots, Taipingshan white cherry blossoms, and other flowers display different charms throughout the seasons, making it very captivating.
