Badouzi Coastal Park / Wangyou Valley

Badouzi is located southeast of Heping Island. Originally an isolated island, it later became a peninsula-like promontory after the construction of a power plant. The famous Wangyou Valley and Badouzi Coastal Park became more accessible due to the formation of this peninsula. Badouzi Fishing Harbor was built in 1975 (Republic of China Year 64) and is the largest fishing port in northern Taiwan. In the adjacent fishing village, one often sees sea vegetables laid out to dry and numerous 'fish shacks'. This is a well-known seafood processing hub in Taiwan! Processed catches include small squid, anchovies, mackerel, flying fish roe, and more. Wangyou Valley is a V-shaped valley situated between Badouzi and Changtanli. The entire valley is covered with lush green grass and features gentle undulations. From here, you can get a close-up view of Badouzi Fishing Harbor and a distant view of Keelung Islet in the sea, and you can also descend the steps. Being there makes one 'forget' all 'worries'! Following the path down from the cliff top, you can reach a beach about 20 meters wide. The beach is dotted with geological features such as wave-cut platforms and tofu rocks. If you ascend to the hilltop platform along Huanshan Road, you'll be greeted by an expansive view of vast blue waters. After nightfall, the scattered fishing boat lights on the sea blend with the lights of the coastal highway, creating a brilliant nightscape. Alternatively, looking back at the twinkling lights of the mountain town of Jiufen also offers a unique charm.
