The Waimushan Coast is the longest remaining natural coastline within Keelung City's jurisdiction. A coastal highway, approximately 5 kilometers long, stretches from Waimushan Fishing Harbor to Aodi Village. With open coastal scenery on one side and towering uniclinal cliffs on the other, it presents a magnificent coastal view. The beach in Aodi Fishing Village is the only remaining sandy shoreline, small yet beautiful, making it a popular spot for water activities and swimming during summer. Summer sunrises are a rare beauty along this coast; sitting by the shore, listening to the sound of the waves, and admiring the magnificent glow of the dawn is truly refreshing. The coastal reefs, sculpted by seawater erosion over many years, have formed unique shapes, which are well worth a closer look and appreciation. The Waimushan Trail is Keelung City's first tourist cycling path, situated in the scenic Waimushan coastal area. It is a closed trail, 3 meters wide and only 1.2 kilometers long. Within this enclosed cycling and sightseeing trail, visitors can safely enjoy leisurely walks, jogs, or bike rides, savoring the refreshing sea breeze. As the trail runs alongside the coastal highway, nestled between mountains and sea, one can gaze out at the distant Keelung Islet across the vast blue ocean and observe cargo ships sailing by or waiting to enter Keelung Port for operations. Spending time leisurely on this trail is sure to be effective in relieving the stresses of daily life. From here, a small path next to the trail's parking lot leads to the seaside, where one can fish or sit by the shore and listen to the surging sound of the waves. You can also admire the beautiful coastal reefs, which have been eroded by waves over many years and sculpted into various unique shapes. Visitors can also go to Aodi Fishing Village for water activities and swimming. If you have ample time and energy and wish to get some exercise, you can explore the Zhongshan Gorge Forest Ancient Trail, located next to the trail's parking lot and nestled against the mountains, which takes about 40 to 60 minutes for a round trip. Alternatively, head to the Wenxing Forest Trail, located near the Earth God Temple at the end of the main trail. This trail is 950 meters long and takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the Lover's Lake Scenic Platform at its end, which offers the best panoramic view of the Western Coastal Highway and the seascape of Waimushan Fishing Harbor.
