Visitor Essentials

Wulai's beauty stems not only from its scenic mountains and waters but also from the convergence of diverse cultures, which sets it apart from the resort-like atmosphere of urban and rural towns in New Taipei's suburbs. The "New Taipei City Wulai Atayal Museum" serves as the ideal platform to showcase the historical legacy of the indigenous peoples in this area. Located at the entrance of the Wulai commercial district, the building spans three above-ground levels and one basement level. It comprehensively presents the history, natural ecology, and cultural splendor of the Wulai Atayal tribe through content covering the historical origins, traditional humanistic features, daily customs, religious beliefs, and festive celebrations of the Atayal indigenous people. The natural ecological resources here are exceptionally rich, featuring diverse landscapes such as high mountains, valleys, waterfalls, hot springs, and primeval forests. In addition to enjoying Wulai's waterfalls, hiking, hot springs, cherry blossoms, and indigenous cuisine, visitors can also experience unique Atayal indigenous cultural elements like the Millet Sowing Festival, Ancestral Spirit Culture Festival, tribal ecology, and the Wulai Atayal Museum, allowing them to immerse themselves in the distinctive cultural atmosphere of the Atayal people.
