Bitou Cape

Bitou Cape embodies the finest examples of coastal erosion landforms along the Northeast Coast, particularly distinguished by its exceptionally developed sea cliffs, wave-cut notches, and wave-cut platforms, which are unparalleled in Taiwan. The wave-cut platform is covered with mushroom rocks, honeycomb rocks, tofu rocks, and trace fossils, making it not only a scenic spot but also an excellent natural geological classroom for outdoor education. Strolling along the stone path towards Bitou Elementary School, you are greeted by a breathtaking view where the sea and sky merge into one. At the end of the trail is the Bitou Cape Lighthouse, which was first built in 1896. It was destroyed by Allied forces during World War II and rebuilt into a circular structure, 12.3 meters high, only after the war.
