Qingshan Temple

Legend has it that when fishermen from Huian brought Lord Lingan Zunwang from China, as the statue passed through Old Street (now Xiyuan Road), it suddenly became too heavy to move. After consulting the deity with moon blocks, they learned that Lord Lingan Zunwang wished to reside there, so devotees built a temple on Old Street. Coincidentally, a plague was prevalent at that time, but those who prayed to Lord Lingan Zunwang were granted peace and health. Consequently, the number of followers grew, and they jointly raised funds to build a new temple, which is today's Qingshan Temple. Inside Qingshan Temple, there are also statues of Generals Xie Bi'an and Fan Wujiu. It is said that back then, at night, the clanging of the chains carried by the two generals could be heard inside the temple and on the streets, or they could be seen patrolling, which is why there were rarely any thieves in the vicinity. The Qingshan King Festival is held on the 22nd day of the 10th lunar month. On that day, temples from across the district come out to celebrate together, creating a very lively atmosphere. It is one of Monga's most distinctive and grand festive worship events. The nationally renowned 'Herbal Lane' (Qingcao Xiang) is located in Lane 224, Xichang Street.
