Donggang Banyan Park

At the estuary of Donggang Village in Zhuangwei Township, there's a Banyan Park where you can relax and cool off. You can unwind in hammocks strung between old trees or leisurely stroll along the shady avenue, enjoying the play of light and shadow through the sprawling branches and the tranquil atmosphere. Donggang Banyan Park is located at the southern end of the Coastal Cycling Path and is one of the designated rest stops along the route. It earned its name because its lush, interwoven branches create a natural wonder of dense, day-long shade, making it a popular summer spot for cyclists and visitors to cool off and enjoy the scenery. The most unique feature here are the 'fishing net hammocks,' hand-woven by local elderly fishermen and community residents. A visit to the park wouldn't be complete without experiencing the sheer joy of relaxing in one of these hammocks. Beneath the trees, the Dazhongye Temple also serves as a gathering place for local residents to relax and chat. Stepping out of Banyan Park, you'll see the former simple pier, where fishing boats still dock today. Although it no longer sees the bustling fishing activity of the past, it still retains a strong fishing village ambiance and rustic charm. The coastal recreation area, Banyan Park, and the nearby Lanyang River Estuary Bird-watching Area are all highly recommended attractions in Yongzhen. You can follow the coastal road and explore by bicycle for the most enjoyable and leisurely experience. You'll also have the chance to admire the traditional Bouhou Community, where the park is located, which still preserves the appearance of old houses from early rural Taiwan, exuding a full sense of nostalgic charm.
