Compared to the convenient transportation of Fulong Beach, this place requires further travel by public transport or bicycle, which also makes it feel more like a hidden gem. You can even look forward to having the entire beach to yourself! The golden beach of Blue Bay Coastal Recreation Park stretches for 3 kilometers, reaching Fulong's Golden Coast. Therefore, the best way to enjoy it is to rent a bicycle and cycle along the smooth and easy-to-ride coastal bike path. Along the way, you can admire the unique dune plants of the Northeast Coast and the sparkling Shuangxi River. After passing Longmen Suspension Bridge for an open view, you will arrive at your destination. The park offers everything you could want, including a beach loved by visitors of all ages, with soft and fine quartz sand. There are also ecological trails, irregular special exhibitions, a barbecue area with dining facilities, DIY workshops, and various landscape art installations, offering many entertainment options beyond just playing in the sand. It's hard not to notice the 'Yanliao Anti-Japanese Monument' standing by the beach, quietly narrating past history. During the 1895 Yiwai War (Taiwan's resistance against Japanese occupation), Yanliao was the first landing point for the Japanese army, who then advanced to establish colonial rule. A landing monument was built here, which was later destroyed by the public after Taiwan's Retrocession. In 1975, the original monument base was used to rebuild it into the current Anti-Japanese Monument, commemorating this period of anti-Japanese history. Beyond experiencing the historical sentiment, don't miss the natural land art here. Utilizing natural elements such as sand sculptures, driftwood, ironworks, bamboo, and wind chimes combined with the Golden Coast, artists create captivating stories. This also infuses the park with indigenous elements and a strong Southeast Asian flair. If you wish to relax and quench your thirst, you can visit the uniquely styled Blue Bay Cafe. Here, you can sip coffee and enjoy light refreshments in an antique-style Fujianese-inspired building, feel the sea breeze, and savor the tranquility of the surroundings.
