Yongzhen Coastal Recreation Area

Whether you want to play in the sand, wade in the waves, and cool off during the hot summer, or simply relax and admire the Pacific Ocean and Guishan Island, Yongzhen Coastal Recreation Area offers it all! The park is just a three to four-minute walk up a ramp from Yongzhen Temple. Its expansive sea views and long sandy beaches are major draws for visitors of all ages. There are also boardwalks and observation pavilions for gazing at Guishan Island offshore. It's an excellent spot to watch the 'Guishan Sunrise' on the summer solstice, and offers the rare sight of the sun appearing to be nestled in Guishan Island's 'turtle head,' attracting many photography enthusiasts. The coastal plants here help block wind and stabilize sand, often forming lush green dunes in the summer. Uniquely located between the mouths of the Lanyang and Zhuan Rivers, it is a privileged habitat for birds. Therefore, a visit here not only offers water activities, wave-watching, and beautiful views of Guishan Island, but also a thriving plant ecosystem and bird colonies, allowing visitors to personally experience the pulse of nature. Beyond coastal recreation and natural ecology, the area also embodies local cultural charm, making it well worth exploring. The adjacent Yongzhen Temple has a long history and remains a bustling center of worship today. The temple primarily enshrines King Kaizhang Shengwang. Every year on the 15th day of the second lunar month, during King Kaizhang Shengwang's birthday, folk activities such as fire-walking rituals attract numerous pilgrims, creating a spectacular scene.
