With over 200 years of history, Dapu Beiji Temple primarily worships Emperor Xuantianshangdi (God of the North Pole) and is the spiritual center for the Dapu area in Chiayi. Its origins date back to the incense ashes of Emperor Xuantianshangdi carried by Zhangzhou immigrants. In 1760 (the 25th year of the Qianlong reign), Mr. Huang A-xie, then the head of Dapu Village, spearheaded the construction of the temple, which has continued to serve as a spiritual pillar for the people of the Dapu region for over two centuries.
