Visitor Essentials

Xinhua Forest Farm spans over 370 hectares. It was originally an experimental forest of National Chung Hsing University and is Taiwan's only low-altitude subtropical forest, making it an excellent destination for leisure and holidays. The park boasts Taiwan's largest mahogany forest; therefore, a visit in April offers the chance to admire the poetic mahogany leaves fluttering in the wind. Fireflies can also be observed during the same period. May to October is the best season for butterfly watching. Along the botanical garden's walking trails, you can find Aristolochia (Dutchman's Pipe), the favorite food of swallowtail butterflies, everywhere, painting a beautiful picture of these butterflies fluttering abundantly throughout the area.
