Zhounan Salt Farm

The fishing and salt industries flourished in Budai since the Qing Dynasty, and Budai's abundance in fishing and salt was a beautiful scene of past prosperity. In 1824, the Zhounan Salt Farm was established, ushering in Taiwan's 'white gold era' of salt production. Over time, table salt from Taiwan Salt (Company) shifted from domestic production to imports. In 2002, Taiwan's 'sun-dried salt' production came to an end.
