Nanbudai Wetland

The Nanbudai Wetland is located on the south side of Budai Township, Chiayi County. It is situated on the site of the former Sixth Salt Pan Area of the Budai Salt Field and encompasses a vast area of lagoon waters. Due to changes in economic structure, the local salt industry abandoned the salt fields. After years of disuse, prolonged rainwater erosion and desalination, coupled with land subsidence, and under the influence of various natural and human factors, this place eventually transformed into an ecologically rich wetland environment. It attracts a large number of winter and summer migratory birds for resting and foraging, and has also become a popular birdwatching spot in the Yun-Chia-Nan coastal area.
