Puzih City, Chiayi County, was once an important hub for the embroidery industry. The prosperity of that era was reflected in the large volume of embroidered artworks exported from Puzih City, including Eight Immortals banners, door curtains, pillowcases, bed sheets, traditional puppet costumes, Taiwanese opera costumes, bridal dowries, and more, with sales reaching all over Taiwan. To preserve this outstanding local cultural characteristic, the Puzih City Office began promoting embroidery in 2002. They not only established the Chiayi County Embroidery Culture Association and offered workshops for embroidery instruction, but also received a subsidy from the Executive Yuan's Local Cultural Museum Project in 2003, leading to the construction of the Puzih Embroidery Cultural Museum. It serves as a promotion center for embroidery culture, while also promoting arts and cultural activities and acting as a tourism information point for Puzih.
