Visitor Essentials
Chaohjing (潮境) originally refers to a mixing zone where cold and warm ocean currents meet, specifically the confluence of the Kuroshio Current and Oyashio Current in the Western Pacific. This area, teeming with plankton, attracts migratory fish, making it an ideal fishing ground where fish readily gather. Chaohjing Park is situated on the eastern side of the Badouzi Peninsula, covering approximately one hectare, and overlooks Wanghaixiang Bay (also known as Huanfan Aao). What was once a landfill has been transformed, through careful planning and redevelopment, into a popular destination on Keelung's North Coast for appreciating sea views. During spring and summer, the intertidal zone and erosion platforms, exposed at low tide, reveal a rich and diverse natural ecosystem, serving as an excellent outdoor classroom for families during holidays. The park offers facilities such as a parking lot, a large lawn, fish sculptures, bicycle paths, slides, observation seating, and sand pits, creating a beautiful and tranquil space for people to stroll, converse, gaze at the sea, and listen to the waves. Within the park, there's also a Porphyra (seaweed) display and demonstration area, which becomes a natural outdoor exhibition space for Porphyra during its peak harvesting season. Additionally, visitors can admire various nature-inspired art installations, crafted from natural materials like driftwood, conveying the importance of environmental conservation. These distinctive art pieces, paired with the magnificent seascape, make it one of Keelung's most popular photo-op locations today. Beyond enjoying the stunning ocean vistas, daytime visitors can closely observe the coastal geology and ecological landscape around Fanzi'ao Bay, and also take in the distant scenery of Keelung Mountain. As dusk descends, the twinkling lights of Jiufen gradually illuminate like jewels, complemented by the scattered fishing lights on the sea, creating an absolutely breathtaking and unmissable sight.
