Tiaoshi Coast

The coastline north of Jinshan city center offers pleasant scenery, and Tiaoshi Coast, located at the northernmost point, is one of the best spots to enjoy the sea view. Historically, many households lived along Tiaoshi Coast, relying on the sea for their livelihood, often venturing out to fish or collect seaweed. Before the Danjin Highway was built, the powerful waves made passage difficult. Residents and travelers had to wait for low tide and then move by hopping from one large rock to another along the shore, which is how the name 'Tiaoshi' (Jumping Stones) originated. The North Coast block where Jinshan is situated was originally deposited on the seabed. It later uplifted to the surface due to gradual crustal ascent. Subsequently, the compression between the Eurasian Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate caused geothermal heat to melt into magma, which erupted to form the Datun Volcano Group. The ejected materials flowed in all directions, and Tiaoshi Coast is composed of these residual deposits, now forming a unique volcanic coastal landscape. The scattered boulders and massive rocks of Tiaoshi Coast create shimmering light on gentle, wind-stirred waves. Successive white waves ripple like silver, showcasing the miraculous blend of nature's majestic ruggedness and tender elegance. As you drive to Tiaoshi Coast and gaze upon this long coastline, piled with countless pebbles of all sizes, imagine the early settlers carrying heavy loads of agricultural and fishery products, toiling and hopping among the gravel. A profound sense of nostalgia cannot help but arise.
