Shimen Wind Power Plant (Windmill Park)

Shimen not only boasts rich marine landscapes, but its unique terrain also makes wind power a significant feature of the area. If you proceed from Shimen towards the Shibawangong Temple, you will see giant wind turbines standing atop distant hills. This is Taipower's Shimen Wind Power Plant - Windmill Park, home to Taiwan Island's first wind turbine units. Shimen Windmill Park is dubbed the "Cape of Good Hope of the North Coast" by netizens and is a must-visit secret spot for photography in Northern Taiwan. There are six wind turbines in total throughout the area. Their red and white striped exteriors give them a cute and lively style. Strolling along the pathway allows visitors to admire the beautiful scenery of the wind turbines against the azure sea. Every year during the wild lily blooming season, the pure white flowers add an incredibly romantic charm to the Windmill Park. Following the wooden boardwalk downwards, you can reach an observation deck. On the observation deck, there is a sunshade designed with the imagery of a sailboat, inspired by Shimen's very famous kites. From the observation deck, you can overlook more than 180 degrees of coastal scenery, offering an unobstructed view of the picturesque blend of sea and sky.
