Fugueijiao Lighthouse

Fugueijiao Lighthouse is located at the northernmost tip of Taiwan. Originally named Fuji Cape Lighthouse, its body was an octagonal iron structure. Damaged during World War II, it was rebuilt in 1962 with an octagonal concrete body. The Fuji Cape Lighthouse features a charming black and white striped exterior and is one of Taiwan's four extreme points, being the northernmost lighthouse on Taiwan proper. Fugueijiao Lighthouse was the first lighthouse built by the Japanese in Taiwan, constructed by them to facilitate the laying of submarine cables and navigation facilities between Taiwan and Japan. Due to its unique geographical environment and climate, dense fog often occurs during autumn and winter. Therefore, a "foghorn" was installed inside the lighthouse, marking the first time such a navigational aid appeared in Taiwan. In addition, Fugueijiao Lighthouse is a famous landmark for capturing "suspended sun" scenery. As the sun slowly sets, the fiery red sun perfectly aligns with the center of the lighthouse, casting an orange-yellow glow across the sky, creating a rare and limited-time spectacle known as the "Lighthouse Suspended Sun." When visiting Fugueijiao Lighthouse, it is recommended to also explore other popular attractions in the vicinity, such as Laomei Green Reef and Fugui Fishing Port.
