Linshanbi Recreation Area

Linshanbi, known as "Taiwan's northernmost beautiful headland," stands on both sides of Baishawan, facing Fugueijiao. Approximately 800,000 years ago, the eruption of Zhuzi Volcano, part of the Datun Volcano Group, formed a cape extending into the sea. Local residents of Demao Village referred to it as "Biweibi" or "Biweitou," but it was renamed "Linshanbi" during the Japanese colonial period. The well-jointed andesite rocks, after countless years of erosion by ocean waves and abrasive scouring by sand particles carried by the persistent northeast monsoon, gradually formed flat, wind-eroded surfaces. As wind directions shifted, these surfaces were further sculpted at various angles, developing sharp edges and corners, and are thus known as "wind-faceted rocks." Standing before these massive and uniquely shaped wind-faceted rocks, one can almost hear the dialogue between wind and stone, marveling at the profound and unwavering persistence of nature's power, which remains constant through time. Additionally, the algal reefs, considered a treasure of Linshanbi, represent a unique geological landscape well worth observing. Some algae species require stable rock surfaces to grow, and the abundant andesite here naturally provides the ideal substrate. As generations of algae are born, live, and die, their successive growth eventually forms multi-layered, thin calcareous algal reefs on the rock surfaces. Furthermore, observing the small creatures in the intertidal zone is a highlight of visiting Linshanbi. By checking tide times in advance and preparing the necessary gear, visitors can enjoy the fun of tide pooling and easily discover rare natural delights among the rock crevices and stones. Currently, the Linshanbi Recreation Area features well-planned facilities such as pedestrian paths and wooden boardwalks. Beyond enjoying the coastal scenery, visitors can also observe the ecosystem of the shallow sea, making it highly suitable for families with children to enjoy a nature-filled outdoor educational trip. Moreover, Linshanbi Recreation Area is an excellent spot for watching sunsets. The afterglow reflecting on the mirror-like shallow waters creates a particularly mysterious and beautiful scene. A scene from the movie "Secret," where the male protagonist escorts the female protagonist home, was filmed on the cycling path within Linshanbi Recreation Area. The wooden boardwalk spans approximately 600 meters. The coastal views along the path are stunning, particularly enchanting when a gentle breeze rustles through the Casuarina forest and the sea breeze creates "silver waves." This beauty has drawn many movie fans to explore the area.
