Yuanxing Residence

Located directly behind the Sanzhi Visitor Center, Yuanxing Residence is the former home of former President Lee Teng-hui. It was formerly known as Wangcuoying and was originally a traditional Sanheyuan (three-sided courtyard) building in Sanzhi District. It gained widespread fame due to former President Lee Teng-hui, attracting many visitors and becoming one of Sanzhi's renowned tourist attractions. The main building is a traditional Southern Min-style Sanheyuan, featuring black tiled roofs and brick walls, and is very well preserved. Its overall style exudes an ancient, elegant charm. Surrounded by old banyan trees providing shade, sitting on stone benches under the trees to admire the century-old house evokes a tranquil atmosphere and a sense of nostalgic contemplation. Currently, the main hall inside Yuanxing Residence is open for visitors, while the side doors remain closed. The outdoor courtyard, with its stone tables, stone chairs, and a stone ox, emanates a rustic and nostalgic ambiance. The threshing ground in front of the gate was where Mr. Lee Teng-hui, during his presidency, personally distributed red envelopes to the local community every Lunar New Year.
